The Mori Art Museum in Tokyo has announced that its ongoing exhibition, Ron Mueck, officially surpassed 200,000 visitors as of Thursday, July 9, 2026. Co-organized by the Mori Art Museum and the Fondation Cartier pour l'art contemporain, this highly acclaimed exhibition celebrates the artist’s first major solo presentation in Japan in 18 years. Born in Australia in 1958 and now based in the United Kingdom, Ron Mueck is an internationally renowned contemporary artist who gracefully expands the boundaries of figurative sculpture through his innovative use of materials, techniques, and forms of expression.
The exhibition showcases 11 captivating works that trace the artist’s creative evolution from his iconic early masterpieces to his latest creations. At the heart of the presentation is the monumental installation Mass (2016-2017), a profoundly immersive masterpiece comprising 100 giant, beautifully rendered human skull sculptures, creating a grand and contemplative atmosphere. Notably, six of the exhibited works are being presented in Japan for the very first time.
