‘Schinkel nach Athen tragen’ Exhibition of nine new works by Georg Baselitz
Nine new works on paper by Georg Baselitz are presented in the ‘Pomonatempel’ (1800) – the first building realised by the then 19-year-old Karl Friedrich Schinkel, who went on to become the most significant German architect of the 19th century.
Curated by Cornelius Tittel, the exhibition transforms the classicistic temple dedicated to the goddess of fruits into a stage for contemporary art.
For the opening on 27 August at 4pm, musicians of the Staatskapelle Dresden will play works by Wagner, Albinoni and Kamen – with an introduction by Christian Thielemann.
