Emilio Vedova at the Haus für Mozart Salzburg Summer Festival 2021
The Salzburg Festival will present a selection of works by Emilio Vedova at the Haus für Mozart this summer. As Luigi Nono’s close friend, Emilio Vedova designed the stage set for the world premiere of Nono’s Intolleranza at the Teatro La Fenice in 1961. For this year’s summer festival the pioneering opera will be shown in a new production under the direction of Jan Lauwers and conducted by Ingo Metzmacher, offering an ideal occasion to present Vedova’s seminal works in Salzburg. The exhibition will offer insights into Vedova’s working process and his engagement with music. Alongside his large scale paintings, archival material and photographs related to the first production of Intolleranza will be displayed throughout the foyer, as well as the entrance and the gallery leading to the to the Karl Böhm Hall
The project was realised in collaboration between the Salzburg Festival, the Fondazione Emilio e Annabianca Vedova, the Archivio Luigi Nono and the Thaddaeus Ropac gallery.
