Miquel Barceló New monograph published by Citadelles-Mazenod, Paris

'Artist, traveler, explorer, and connoisseur, Miquel Barceló (born 1957, Mallorca) has been active for over fifty years. Through his hands—wielding brushes, knives, scrapers, and more—the human figure, fauna, flora, and landscapes take on the form of apparitions, hybrids, and wondrous bestiaries and herbariums.

Inspired by his native land, enriched by his encounters, and deeply engaged with literature, his imagination unfolds a fertile personal mythology and a rich visual vocabulary. By experimenting with pigments, varnishes, clays, and various tools, the artist constantly reinvents the act of creation. Through its coverage of his paintings, sculptures, drawings, prints, and ceramics, this multifaceted volume—where literature, philosophy, and art history intersect—invites readers to explore the world of one of the most significant artists of our time.

This unique edition, produced in close collaboration with the artist, features an original photographic series that celebrates the creative inventiveness of a master—an artist recently honored with prestigious monumental commissions, including three Old Testament-themed tapestries for Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris, as well as his participation in the project competition for the main façade of Antoni Gaudí’s Sagrada Família in Barcelona.'
