Erwin Wurm Unveiling of the sculpture 'Gate' at Gustav-Gründgens-Platz, Düsseldorf

With Gate (2021), a significant work by Erwin Wurm is being permanently installed in Düsseldorf. The internationally renowned artist is donating the monumental sculpture to the state capital, thereby making it a new, permanent feature of the public space. The work takes up the familiar form of a gate and transforms it into a sculpture. As a passageway and threshold, Gate alters the perception of its surroundings and invites viewers to observe the urban space from a new perspective.
