Robert Rauschenberg Foundation Announces New Digital Catalogue Raisonné And landmark research on the artist’s formative years
On what would have been the artist’s 101st birthday, the Robert Rauschenberg Foundation has released the first installment of the Robert Rauschenberg Catalogue Raisonné, opening new access to years of research and scholarship on the artist’s formative years. The project brings together comprehensive documentation and critical perspectives on Rauschenberg’s paintings and sculptures from 1948 to 1953, one of the least-known periods of the artist’s career.
Edited by Eric Banks, Julia Blaut, and Susan Davidson, the volume brings together meticulously researched catalogue entries with extended contributions by Catherine Craft, Giorgio Di Domenico, Leah Dickerman, Darby English, Helen Molesworth, Jennifer L. Roberts, and Terry Winters.
The project will be released in two complementary formats: a digital catalogue, freely accessible online, and a richly produced print volume. The digital catalogue will be an exact counterpart to the printed book, providing access to catalogue entries, images, provenance, exhibition history, publication history, and new scholarship. The print volume will follow in winter 2027, co-published by the Robert Rauschenberg Foundation, New York and Gregory R. Miller & Co., New York. This milestone marks the conclusion of the centennial celebrations of the artist’s birth, following an international programme of events, exhibitions, and publications examining the artist’s expansive influence.
