Eva Helene Pade TANZ!

13 November 2026—7 March 2027
Kunsthalle Mannheim, Germany

Since the late 19th century, artists have increasingly focused on depicting the fleeting, dynamic nature of dance. In the search for new forms of expression, the dancing body becomes the starting point for immediate artistic creation. At the same time, ideas about body ideals, identity, and gender are made visible and put up for discussion on stage. The exhibition TANZ! illuminates the multifaceted and reciprocal relationship between dance and visual art over a period of more than 150 years.

Starting with Edgar Degas's dancers, the exhibition spans from the international avant-garde to the present day, featuring live performances. Works by Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, Oskar Schlemmer, and Georg Kolbe enter into a dialogue with artists such as Lavinia Schulz, Marie Laurencin, and Alexandra Exter. Choreography is also a central focus, serving as a key source of inspiration for numerous artists, including Emma Amos and Eva Helene Pade.
