Austrian artist Nick Oberthaler (born in 1981) presents a new body of paintings. The large-format works extend his exploration of the canvas as a threshold or window, juxtaposing geometric abstraction with the unsettling depths of an illusionistic space, like a field into which the gaze plunges. Smaller works also reveal his gestural vein.
