Cory Arcangel X unveiled at Kistefos Museum

Cory Arcangel (b. 1978) is a key figure in postconceptual and digital art, known for using appropriation, hacking, and obsolete technologies to explore internet culture, technological obsolescence, and collective nostalgia. For X (2026), Arcangel draws a connection between historical and contemporary communication technologies. Arcangel has designed and constructed a carillon – a musical instrument composed of twelve bells – hanging within a cell phone tower, a defining object of the current network age. By merging these two technologies, the work draws a parallel between analogue and digital forms of transmission.
