Erwin Wurm Life is a Dance! Jeanne Susplugas

A solo exhibition of the work of the artist Jeanne Susplugas, accompanied by works from guest artists, presented in dialogue with her work as a reflection of influences.

Jeanne Susplugas’s work forms part of a committed exploration of the visible and invisible mechanisms of confinement. Whether physical, psychological or social, this confinement becomes the starting point for a reflection on the individual’s place in the world, their vulnerabilities and their relationships with others in an unstable world marked by repetition and obsession.

To give shape to this line of thought, the artist employs a wide range of practices, from installation to virtual reality, including drawing, writing, sculpture, photography and video. These mediums intertwine to create a world that is both rigorous and unsettling, where visual appeal masks a deeper tension. Behind an apparent light-heartedness, humour and irony reveal a body of work that unsettles, challenges and forces the viewer to confront their own limitations.

The exhibition ‘Life is a dance!’, curated by Hélène Audiffren, looks back over twenty-five years of the artist’s creative output, enriched by new works produced as part of her regional residency.
