Georg Baselitz | Sehwa Museum of Art Must-See Museum Exhibitions in Seoul During Frieze Week 2026

26 August 2026

Georg Baselitz | Sehwa Museum of Art | 13 August – 27 December 2026

The Sehwa Museum of Art presents a broad retrospective, encompassing 60 years of Georg Baselitz’s work, in the first Korean exhibition since the artist’s passing earlier this year. The exhibition illuminates the ferocity of the artist’s boundary-stretching legacy spanning from the 1960s onwards. Designed to present new perspectives on Baselitz’s oeuvre, while celebrating the painter’s renowned imagery, the Sehwa Museum of Art reveals a career devoted to experimentation, lucidity and self-realisation. The final spaces in the exhibition are dedicated to the artist’s final body of work: the 'Gold Painting' series which he developed for a short time before his passing in April 2026.

At Frieze Seoul 2026, discover works by Georg Baselitz on the stand of Thaddaeus Ropac.
