Florentina Holzinger: Stadion Étude TRANSART Festival

Florentina Holzinger's STADION ÉTUDE is a continuation of her contribution SEAWORLD VENICE for the Austrian Pavilion at the Venice Biennale. A site-specific performance is created in the Europa Stadium in Bolzano: A hot air balloon with a large bell attached floats above the stadium. Its sound evokes the significance of church bells in South Tyrol, representing borders, religious order, and regional identity.

Traditional sounds meet contemporary performance. A brass band and a zither form the musical foundation. Elements of folk music and alpine motifs are incorporated and reinterpreted, creating an unusual connection between tradition and the present. Familiar sounds are placed in a new, almost apocalyptic context, and new images and myths emerge from traditions.
