Heemin Chung in AMOR EX MACHINA Group Exhibition at Seoul Museum of Art
The Seoul Museum of Art (SeMA) presents AMOR EX MACHINA, a special exhibition celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Nanji Residency SeMA. On view at the Seosomun Main Branch across the second and third-floor galleries from 30 April to 6 September, the exhibition features over 60 works—spanning painting, photography, installation, video, and sculpture—by 17 distinguished alumni of the residency, including Heemin Chung. In alignment with SeMA’s 2026 curatorial theme of 'Technology,' the exhibition departs from viewing technology as a mere tool, instead recognising it as an intrinsic environment and condition of contemporary life.
Eschewing binary perspectives, the presentation explores the human condition as one inextricably entwined with technology, capital, media, and non-human entities. Within this complex ecosystem, the participating artists examine the enduring nature of emotion, interpersonal connection, and vulnerability.
Notably, Heemin Chung unveils a new painting that intricately juxtapose visions of an idealised paradise with the ephemeral textures of digital landscapes.
