On the Absurd | Erwin Wurm - Photographic Sculptures Solo exhibition at the FLATZ Museum
“The absurd can leap out at any person on any street corner”
— Albert Camus
Erwin Wurm is one of Austria's most internationally renowned artists, widely acclaimed for expanding the very concept of sculpture. Wurm rethinks sculpture by exploring the boundaries between sculpture, photography, film, action and performance, between three- and two-dimensionality. Media such as photography and video play a crucial role in his practice, engaging with the ephemeral, process-oriented and temporary nature of his "sculptural actions", while transforming the performative into something object-like. Wurm thereby refers to these photographic works as “Photographic Sculptures.”
