VALIE EXPORT and Ketty La Rocca in dialogue A video report on the exhibition

17 December 2025

Milan, December 17 (askanews) - The Thaddaeus Ropac gallery presents its second exhibition, Body Sign, at Palazzo Belgioioso in Milan until February 28, 2026. This exhibition is an unprecedented dialogue between two major feminist artists, protagonists of Conceptual Art: VALIE EXPORT and Ketty La Rocca. Alberto Salvadori, co-curator of the exhibition together with Andrea Maurer, explained to askanews the idea behind the project: "Body Sign is the first dialogue between two extraordinary artists, VALIE EXPORT and Ketty La Rocca, who never met in life, but who had a parallel development of their artistic thought and work. Ketty La Rocca, as we know, passed away very young, but VALIE EXPORT is fortunately present here in the exhibition and is the direct testimony of one of the greatest artists who grew up in that context of international feminism between the 1960s and 1970s and who is leaving a legacy that is defining the boundaries of a very important historical period. This dialogue, this meeting, was welcomed with great enthusiasm by VALIE EXPORT who feels like she has had a kind of artistic sister in Ketty La Rocca. Both were innovative, revolutionary in their own way and have defined a very specific way to distance themselves from an attitude that pervaded and unfortunately still pervades society today."
