Han Bing: artist-in-residence PROJECT 12 at the Palais Garnier, Paris

To mark the 150th anniversary of the Palais Garnier in 2025, the Paris National Opera and Arop, the Association for the Promotion of the Paris National Opera, are launching PROJECT 12: an exceptional artist residency at the heart of this famous Parisian monument.

The residency welcomes a new artist each month. Han Bing will be artist-in-residence during the month of October. Moving away from the picturesque, Han Bing freely rearranges elements of the urban landscape – street scenes, facades, textures, and visual language – into abstract compositions that reveal their emotional and poetic resonance. Inspired in particular by patchwork and the 'glitches' born from the layering of torn advertising posters, her work embraces an organic conception of the creative act, open to the 'unexpected.'
