Thaddaeus Ropac's new gallery in Milan A report on the opening

We've already told you about this event, which brings prestigious international energy to the Milanese and Italian gallery scene, several times. Now the X hour has arrived: and we can tell you firsthand what the new gallery opened by superstar Thaddaeus Ropac is like in Milan. And welcoming us, with great cordiality, were the gallery owner himself and the person who will direct the Milanese branch, Elena Bonanno di Linguaglossa. A large "hall of honor," capable of hosting even large-scale works and installations, flanked by a series of smaller but no less precious spaces, offering versatile installation solutions. In the central setting of Palazzo Belgioioso, designed by Giuseppe Piermarini in 1772.

We also previewed the inaugural exhibition, which brings together two 20th-century giants: Georg Baselitz and Lucio Fontana . It intertwines the German artist's recent work with the Italian-Argentine master's historic works, revealing a deep and enduring bond that has spanned decades, despite the two never having met in person. The exhibition juxtaposes paintings and sculptures created by Baselitz in the last decade with works by Fontana spanning the 1930s to the 1960s, many of which are on loan from the Lucio Fontana Foundation. Introduced by Baselitz's monumental bronze sculpture, which welcomes visitors in the courtyard of the building on the ground floor…
