Inspired: Tony Cragg A Sarabande Foundation Talk
Renowned British sculptor Tony Cragg is traveling from Germany to join Natalia Grabowska, Curator at Large of Architecture and Site-Specific Projects at the Serpentine, for an in-depth conversation about his monumental career.
Tony Cragg explores the complex relationships between the natural and man-made worlds, creating a unique sculptural language. A self-described "radical materialist," Cragg is fascinated by how internal structures of materials shape their external appearance. Influenced by British land art and performance art, his work draws inspiration from nature’s macro and micro structures and industrial processes.
In his early works, Cragg used found objects to create layered, organic forms reminiscent of geological processes. His recent sculptures, fluid stainless steel pieces, capture the movement and transformation of elements, reminding us that nothing in the world is truly static.
