Amos Gitai is considered one of the most acclaimed Israeli filmmakers. His work, created over a period of six decades, is both a grand narrative and a critical analysis of his homeland. War, conflict, displacement, history, memory and human existence in general are central themes in Gitai's work.

Gitai’s Yitzhak Rabin: Chronicle of an Assassination will be presented at the Burgtheater, Vienna on 4 and 5 May 2024, coinciding with his solo exhibition in Salzburg.
