Lacan, the exhibition Group exhibition featuring Anselm Kiefer, Andy Warhol, and Marcel Duchamp, at Centre Pompidou-Metz in Metz, France
Curated by Marie-Laure Bernadac and Bernard Marcadé, the exhibition at the Centre Pompidou-Metz will be the first devoted to Jacques Lacan.
More than 40 years after the psychoanalyst's death, the exhibition explores Lacan's special relationship with art, by bringing together the works he himself indexed, the artists who have paid tribute to him, and the modern and contemporary works that can echo the major conceptual articulations of his thought.
Works by Anselm Kiefer, Andy Warhol and Marcel Duchamp, among others, delve into issues of sex, love, identity, gender, power, belief and disbelief - all questions on which the psychoanalyst has provided invaluable pointers.
