The National Portrait Gallery in London re-opens New display includes works by Alex Katz and Raqib Shaw
The National Portrait Gallery in London has reopened following an extensive, three-year refurbishment programme. The transformation of the National Portrait Gallery marks the biggest redevelopment project that the building has seen since 1896. The refurbishment programme has seen a comprehensive redisplay of the Collection in beautifully refurbished galleries, including more than 50 new acquisition, and the restoration of the Grade I listed building. The gallery will reopen to members of the public from Thursday 22 June.
Among the works on display as part of the new, comprehensive re-hang are Alex Katz’s Anna Wintour (2009) and Raqib Shaw’s The Final Submission in Fire on Ice (2021-2022).
