Ilya and Emilia Kabakov Constellations: Global Reflections
Constellations: Global Reflections will be the first of its kind international art exhibition. Set to take place during the G20 Summit in Bali and opening in November 2022, this free, outdoor museum exhibition will feature twenty public artworks designed by leading Contemporary Artists. One artist from each G20 member country will be invited to use their voice to either design a two-dimensional artwork inspired by ongoing discussions at the G20 or reproduce a pre-existing artwork. Subject matter ranges from climate change, equity, to global collaboration. Balinese textiles, lanterns, and Wayang, a traditional form of puppet theater, were inspirations for Constellations. Both visible during the day and at night, these sculptures will take on a quiet, reverent quality and will act as beacons calling people from around the world to come together to see art and discuss ways of creating a better and stronger future.
Constellations: Global Reflections will be an active reflection of the values of human kinship and connectivity similar to the G20. The goal is to celebrate the people of Bali and unite them with guests from the visiting Kura Kura, Bali.
