Galerie Thaddaeus Ropac is pleased to announce the upcoming exhibition NEW WOODCUTS by Georg Baselitz. The show will take place in the editions building. Some of his most well known motives, such as the painter, shepard and poet are among this new series of woodcuts. Because his rough and edgy visual vocabulary is so perfectly translated into the medium of woodcut, this body of work is a great example of the experience Baselitz has with printmaking. They are also particularly beautiful due to their bright and glowing colours, which are set against a black background.

NEW WOODCUTS is taking place at the same time as two other shows in Salzburg presenting the work of Baselitz: The groupshow FUENTES. NON-EUROPEAN INFLUENCES ON CONTEMPORARY ARTISTS held in the main spaces of the gallery, juxtaposes a group of drawings from the 1980s with an African sculpture from Baselitz’ collection. In the Museum der Moderne a large Soloshow is taking place showing paintings and sculptures from the 1960s to the present day.
