Fritz mit Gulasch II (2020) exemplifies Jungwirth’s vibrant use of colour and instinctive approach to mark-making. Dashes of fiery reds, oranges and magentas coalesce onto the bare paper ground, forming images that exist, as the artist describes it, ‘before language’ and ‘before the obtrusiveness of objects’. They are the result of external impulses which Jungwirth channels through her body and onto the page in a mixture of ‘action and passion’.
