Elizabeth Peyton Eventyr
27 July – 25 August 2018
For her first exhibition at Thaddaeus Ropac, Elizabeth Peyton presented a selection of new paintings and works on paper.
Consisting of portraits, still-life scenes and representations of performances, she addressed themes that have recurred throughout her career – including those of selfhood, passing time, and the condensation of emotion into faces, figures, gestures and objects. The exhibition drew its title from the old Norse for ‘fairytale’ or ‘adventure’ – a word that captures the historical and imaginative scope of Peyton’s latest paintings and monotypes.
