Alex Katz Homage To Monet

Alex Katz is renowned for his immersive landscapes, especially the ones he creates during the summer months in his Maine studio, located near a water lily pond. In 2009-2010, he decided to paint a series of large-scale works in homage to Monet’s iconic Water Lilies.
Katz says: The water lilies are on the pond in Maine and I’ve been looking at them for 50 years but I never touched them because of Monet. But I said you’re going to do it, and I just did it.
