(...) Il fulcro della sua produzione è una donna raffigurata in contesti quotidiani e informali e liberata dal ruolo di passivo oggetto del desiderio: «Ciò che raffiguro è immaginario, e però è fortemente basato sulla realtà e su esperienze sensoriali di attimi vissuti o visti» spiega Brice, che non fa mistero di ricorrere volutamente a echi di grandi artisti del passato: figure femminili dagli universi pittorici di Degas e Manet, Picasso o Vallotton, che fanno capolino nelle sue opere, e talvolta danno ai suoi dipinti il sapore di re-enactings. 

«In quanto artista figurativa trovo significativo che nel canone dell’arte occidentale siamo assai spesso di fronte a creazioni di uomini bianchi perlopiù destinate a uomini bianchi, e qualche volta il semplice fatto che una donna ridipinga una figura femminile già dipinta da un uomo può produrre di per sé un potente cambiamento: queste sottili trasformazioni mi interessano».

(...) The centerpiece of her production is a woman depicted in everyday, informal contexts and freed from the role of passive object of desire: «What I depict is imaginary, and yet it is strongly based on reality and on sensory experiences of moments lived or seen,» explains Brice, who makes no secret of deliberately resorting to echoes of great artists of the past: female figures from the pictorial universes of Degas and Manet, Picasso or Vallotton, who peep into her works, and sometimes give her paintings the flavor of re-enactments.

«As a figurative artist I find it significant that in the canon of Western art we are quite often faced with creations by white men mostly intended for white men, and sometimes the mere fact that a woman repaints a female figure already painted by a man can in itself produce a powerful change: these subtle transformations interest me.»
