World premiere of 'Fielding 70s' Dance performance by BODHI PROJECT in dialogue with the exhibition 'Expanded Horizons: American Art in the 70s'

Saturday 9 November at 4pm
Paris Pantin

Thaddaeus Ropac Paris Pantin is proud to host the world premiere of Fielding 70s, a dance performance conceived by choreographer Susan Quinn and her avant-garde BODHI PROJECT dance company in resonance with the landmark exhibition Expanded Horizons: American Art in the 70s, which is currently on view at the gallery until 1 February 2025.

Following the rich variety of artworks brought together by Expanded Horizons, Fielding 70s explores the intersection between the emergent ideas of American post-modern dance and the visual arts. The performance specifically investigates the juxtaposition of minimalist dance with the flourishing of expressionistic dramaturgy of the 1970s (including vibrant stage and set design) and negotiates conceptualism, influences of the new wave and the turbulent relationship between form and meaning. Fielding 70s draws inspiration from the eclecticism of some of the ground-breaking women choreographers of the time - Trisha Brown, Lucinda Childs, Twyla Tharp - and their innovative artistic departures. This performance celebrates their quest for new immediacy, spontaneity and refined body syntax.
