Painted in her characteristic palette of red, purple and magenta, Jungwirth’s Ohne Titel (2022) exemplifies her instinctive approach to painting. Allowing the gentle striations of the corrugated cardboard to modulate the thin layers of paint, the painting becomes an event that has landed, as though by chance, onto the support, highlighting the suspension between the real and imagined world that characterises all of the artist’s work. The inspiration for these ‘impulses’ draws from a variety of sources, including travel, art history, mythology, newspaper articles as well as poetry.
