Sean Scully on 'Rabat Blue' Commentary on his work . (This link opens in a new tab).

My work is generally “feeling” in a dance with structure. I made four trips to Morocco, and in that time I drove all over the place, and even made drawings on the beach, which the sea washed away. Blue is very strong in my mind when I think of those days, and the city of Rabat, where you can buy carpets. The faded grays and orange of early mornings, when the air is dry. And so is the red and the yellow, at midday, all jumbled up in this painting.
