Eva Helene Pade: what to experience and enjoy in October See an extraordinary painter’s debut solo show

The Danish-born, Paris-based artist Eva Helene Pade makes hazily beautiful figurative paintings that she says serve as “the language for the things we can’t put into words”. To coincide with Frieze week, she makes her inaugural UK solo presentation at Thaddaeus Ropac London with ‘Søgelys’, an exhibition of large- and small-scale works in which energetic brushstrokes depict female bodies in motion, seductive and unsettling in equal measure. On Pade’s canvases, a woman’s physical form becomes a source of self-expression rather than objectification, while the presence of multiple bodies hints at the strength that comes from collectivity. Frances Hedges.
