"Donald Judd" "Joseph Beuys Reservoirs of impulse: drawings, 1950s-1980s"
(Thaddaeus Ropac Seoul)

Thaddaeus Ropac Seoul, which opened a base in Seoul in 2021 and further expanded its space this year, is also planning two solo exhibitions during Frieze.

Donald Judd's first solo exhibition in Korea in about 10 years, curated by Flavin Judd, Artistic Director of the Judd Foundation in New York, presents Judd's works spanning over 30 years from the early 1960s to the early 1990s. In addition to his early paintings and three-dimensional works, 20 woodblock prints conceived by Judd during his stay in Korea in 1991 will also be spotlighted for the first time in Korea.

The newly expanded 1st floor gallery will feature the first exhibition in Korea, "Reservoirs of impulse," dedicated to the drawings ofThe multifaceted activities of Beuys, who was active at the forefront of post-war European art, will be examined through drawings, which were the main means for Beuys to crystallize his conceptual thinking.

“Nine Tailed Tall Tales: Trickster, Mongrel, Beast”
(Space K)

Finally, on your way to the airport, why not stop by Space K, located just a few steps from Seoul's Gimpo International Airport?

Space K was founded in 2011 by South Korea's Kolon Group and expanded and opened at its current location in September 2020. It continues to support domestic and international artists, holding exhibitions of young and mid-career Korean artists as well as exhibitions of foreign artists who are not well known in Korea.

The solo exhibition "Nine Tailed Tall Tales: Trickster, Mongrel, Beast" by London-based Korean-Canadian artist Zadie Xa (1983-), which is on view until October 12th, features 33 new paintings. In addition to ambitious site-specific installations consisting of painting and sculpture, the latest works using a variety of media will be on display. Drawing on his personal experiences as a Korean-Canadian, his works explore the history of traditional Korean spiritual practices and fuse them with re-created folklore.
