Bjarne Melgaard Bodyparty (Substance Paintings)
23 February – 6 April 2018
Our London gallery presented an exhibition in two parts by Bjarne Melgaard. The gallery exhibition Bodyparty (Substance Paintings) was displayed in tandem with a virtual extension Life Killed My Chihuahua.
Bodyparty (Substance Paintings) was an installation of 14 new paintings in the London gallery. This intimate, introspective body of work, straight from the artist's Oslo studio, reflected his complex relationship with past and present.
Running in parallel, Life Killed My Chihuahua was a digital extension of the show that unfolded on Instagram (@thaddaeusropac), actively involving the audience. It granted a unique insight into Melgaard’s artistic practice and the loneliness of being an artist, while also chronicling Oslo’s contemporary counterculture. Both parts of the exhibition were characteristic of Melgaard’s singular style: independent, radical and non-conformist.
