The creation of Museum MARTa inspired the Herford family entrepreneur Heiner Wemhöner to engage intensively and continuously with contemporary art. His collection, which now comprises around 1,800 works, bears witness to his very personal approach to contemporary art.
The curatorial selection for the exhibition at MARTa includes sculptures, paintings, photographs and large-scale video installations that often formulate questions about our understanding of the present in a sensual and poetic way. During the exhibition period, the Wemhöner Collection will open a show depot in Herford as well as an art and culture centre in a historic ballroom in Berlin Kreuzberg (Hasenheide13).
