Alvaro Barrington's paintings on performance trucks at Glastonbury Festival this weekend As part of his second collaboration with Notting Hill Carnival
For the second consecutive year, Alvaro Barrington is collaborating with Notting Hill Carnival at Glastonbury Festival. Two of the UK’s largest and most important cultural events, the Carnival brings the unique sights and sounds of Caribbean culture to the fields of Somerset for one weekend.
For this iteration, Alvaro Barrington has created a new body of work inspired by Carnival's characters, colours and themes. Bright shaped paintings dress two performance trucks – one housing the iconic Mangrove Steelband and the other an electric truck with a soundsystem – that looped through Arcadia on Thursday afternoon.
While Barrington considers himself primarily a painter, his artistic collaborations encompass concerts, fashion, philanthropy and more, always informed by an unwavering commitment to community. These shaped paintings created for the Carnival community will remain visible on the road at CarHenge across the weekend.
