LA BIENNALE DI VENEZIA, Arsenale, Venice, Italy

Artist and filmmaker Harun Farocki made more than 100 films with a unique combination of documentary and experimental techniques, finding new ways to use cinema as a tool to convey his reflections on the relation between society, politics and the moving picture. Paying tribute to this outstanding artist, more than 100 of these films will be presented simultaneously in the Central Pavilion (Arsenale) as part of the 56th International Art Exhibition All the World’s Futures, curated by Okwui Enwezor, whilst every day one selected film from his extensive oeuvre will be showcased on a large screen.

Along with fellow filmmakers, Farocki and the curator and artist Antje Ehmann held workshops in 15 cities on five continents to explore the understanding of work and labor today. With more than 400 one- to two-minute films Labour in a Single Shot (2011-2014) presents an encyclopedia of global working conditions in the 21st century.
