J’ai une famille. 10 artistes de l’avant-garde chinoise installés en France Group exhibition featuring Yan Pei-Ming at Palais de la Porte Dorée in Paris, France

2023年10月10日—2024年2月18日
Palaise de la Porte Dorée, Paris, France

J'ai une famille presents the works of contemporary artists of Chinese origin who settled in France during the 1980s-1990s, at a time when China's policy of reform and opening-up and the end of the Cold War were shaping a new world order. The exhibition explores the way in which the migratory experience marked and brought together these artists.

The exhibition also focuses on the female figure as a model. The role of women and the feminine is a crucial subject, often neglected in our societies which are still based on power structures centered on men and masculinity. Shen Yuan and An Xiaotong, like their “sisters” on the international scene, respond by demanding equality and justice, while Yan Pei-Ming pays a striking tribute to the women who left a lasting mark on him, such as his mother and the iconic Mona Lisa.

Brought together by Hou Hanru and Evelyne Jouanno, the exhibition retraces the trajectory of these artists over more than thirty years, with by date of arrival: Yan Pei-Ming, Ru Xiao Fan, Chen Zhen, Jiang Dahai, Huang Yong Ping, Yang Jiechang, Shen Yuan, Wang Du, Du Zhenjun and An Xiaotong.
